“If your clock hasn't stopped working already it one day will. It's only a matter of . . . time.”

Are you treating your pendulum clock like the treasure it really is? Does your grandfather clock command the attention of all who enter the room?

In the modern age of electronics blinding LED displays assault your eyes. Digitally generated tones, beeps and buzzes puncture your ear drums. In this age of microchip annoyances your antique pendulum clock can provide a sanctuary of sanity. Stop and take a moment to consider it right now. . . Really, stop right now and give it even ten seconds of thought.

Do you deeply appreciate the aesthetics of your pendulum or weight driven clock? The regular tick-tock sound. The grace of a swinging pendulum. The deep resonating bong of the chimes. The elegant design of the wooden cabinet. The rough of the grain and the cool of the metal. The glint of polished brass. The aristocratic melody of Westminster chimes.

What emotional attachments do you have to your pendulum clock? Who gave it to you? Who owned it before you did? Who do you want to give it to one day?

Once you realize for yourself just how important your antique clock is ask yourself this - what is it worth to you to keep it running in perfect condition? It will only take a moment of your day to realize the value of your clock.

If your clock is working it can last for hundreds of years with the correct maintenance and care. It is highly suggested you have the clock oiled every five years in order to keep it running. Without regular oiling all clocks will fail eventually – sometimes catastrophically.

If your clock isn't working it can likely be made to work again.

Under select conditions depending upon your location and the type of clock you have we will come to you. In the case of Grandfather clocks we always make house calls. Grandfather clocks should only be moved by experienced handlers.

House calls within a fifty mile radius are $60 per hour with a one hour minimum. In many cases your clock can be correctly serviced in one hour. Additional travel costs may apply in some situations.

Who is this mastermind behind Timely Antiques?

Philip Coggon has been perfecting his expertise in clock repair and restoration for over 20 years. He has been a resident of the Fort Collins area since 2001 and has built a customer base by attending local antique shows from Longmont to Cheyenne as a dealer. You can bring your clock to him at antique shows for an on site evaluation. Depending on the condition of your clock he may be able to repair or service it on the spot and you can take it home in working condition.

Remember - all clock repair/restoration estimates are free. Repairs are guaranteed for one year after the date of service.

Philip began his journey into the field of clock repair in 1984 when he imported a family English Grandfather Clock after his father died. As the clock did not work there were two solutions. Philip decided to learn. The rest is history still in the making. Philip combines his British sense of humour with extensive knowledge & experience to make any meeting a joy. His area of expertise is antique pendulum clocks.

What will it take to fix my clock?

If you have a pendulum clock that stops running most likely it needs oiling. The typical charge for oiling a pendulum clock is $35. Cuckoo clocks start at $50. 400 Day or Anniversary clocks are $70 as it will require a more complex overhaul in addition to oiling.

For any problem Philip will examine your clock and provide you with a diagnosis, prognosis and free estimate.

Philip Coggon is available outside of the local antique shows by appointment only. You should contact him by phone at 970-224-2576 or by email at philipcoggon at hotmail dot com.

Do you repair clocks?

We get this question all the time. Yes! We repair clocks and we do clock repair! Both. Sometimes simultaneously.

Do you repair watches?

No we do not. Philip recommends Peter Pronko for watch repair. If you contact him please tell him that Philip referred you. Peter can be contacted at 970-568-3215 and is located at 3744-A Cleveland Avenue in Wellington.
